We are not convinced that the entire liberal establishment desires the American Experiment to fail. There are some patriotic liberals who resist the constant onslaught of actions which will eventually destroy the United States. We commend them and hope we can work together to stop the horrific plunge into socialism and tyranny.

However, there are far too many institutions and individuals who knowingly plan to impoverish and control Americans. This brief video tells the story clearly and well.

Christy Keto, Marketing & Public Relations Manager

Triangle Telephone

P.O. Box 1140

Havre, MT 59501

To the Owners and Managers of Triangle Telephone,

We saw Triangle Telephone’s advertisement promoting the celebration of Earth Day at the Big Timber Health and Wellness fair on April 21. Perhaps you are unaware that Earth Day is an artificial holiday that promotes ideas and activities that are in direct contrast to fundamental American principles of freedom and Judeo-Christian tradition.

Many corporations have promoted Earth Day with the commendable intention of increasing profits by appealing to a specific market. However, the core of that market is anti-capitalist and anti-freedom. Those who pander to that group will eventually be regulated and taxed out of business or into becoming an arm of government.

In 2009, the United Nations created International Mother Earth Day. ’Mother Earth’ is a reference to Gaia, the goddess of Earth. The concept of Earth Day originated at a UNESCO conference in San Francisco in 1969. It attracted and was supported by activists involved in the Anti-War Movement and Counter Culture. We need not emphasize the inherent and long-term corruption of UNESCO. Even the popular media report on it.

Like too many other environmental movements, Earth Day is just another tool used by those who seek to control individuals and engineer society. Furthermore, the worship of physical phenomena is straightforward paganism and materialism, ideas contrary to the Judeo-Christian ethic.

We urge you to stop supporting the celebration of ‘Mother Earth.’ As Genesis says, God created the Earth. It is GOD who should be the focus of celebration, not a pagan goddess. The Bible also says that man has dominion over the Earth, not the other way around. Not all who signed this letter are people of faith, but the message of each signer is simple: celebrate liberty, not slavish obedience to questionable science and self-serving materialism.

According to the Big Timber Pioneer, it appears there will be many new individuals elected to the Republican Central Committee in Sweet Grass County . Many incumbents did not re-file which allowed some challengers to run unopposed. Don Brewer is the only challenger to sitting RCC member and board chairman Rolland Karlin. Pam Rein was not challenged nor were Roger Indreland, Bonita Cremer and Rocky Heinemann. All four will keep their seats.

Here is the breakdown:

Precinct 1:
Joe Hensley-unapposed- will replace Joe Todisco
Ranna McCauley-Unapposed-will replace Becky Todisco

Precinct 2:
Rolland Karlin incumbent challenged by Don Brewer
Louise Dribnenki-unapposed-replaces Doris Roots

Precinct 3:
David Holman-unapposed- replaces Chip Roe
Pamela Rein-remains-unapposed

Precinct 4:
Roger Indreland-remains-unapposed
Bonita Cremer-remains -unapposed

Precinct 5:
Rocky Heinemann-remains-unapposed
Becky Frese-unapposed-replaces Jean Duffy

Thanks to each and every one of you for stepping up to serve. SGCCI thanks those RCC members who have served and chose not to run again. There certainly were strongly held differences of opinion on policy and principle, but those who served did so guided by their best judgement.

Not a single person filed for the Democratic Central Committee seats in Sweet Grass County. That may be because historically, a Democrat could not get elected in Sweet Grass County. However, we have seen that over time in our county, Democrats have tended to run as Republicans in order to get elected. The result is the Republican Party has strayed from its conservative platform and Constitutional principles resulting in tremendous confusion and damage to our county, state and republic nation. Almost no one seems to take to heart their oath to defend the Constitution. We think this group of committee members will help put the Sweet Grass County GOP back on course.

God Bless America and Sweet Grass County!

Over Montana’s Court

by Senator Joe Balyeat (R-Belgrade)

A recent Tribune editorial criticized my referendum to reform Montana’s Supreme Court – LR119. LR119 provides broader statewide Court representation – Each of the seven justices would be elected from seven different regions. In truth, LR119 is not so much an attempt to make the Court more conservative, as an attempt to make the Court more balanced and circumspect in its proceedings. LR119 will bring more diverse thinking to the court, rather than having a court dominated by power seeking, inside-the-beltway Capitol activists. Six of Montana’s seven current justices come from a 90 mile radius of Helena, and almost all were elected with enormous campaign spending by the Trial Lawyers’ PAC.

This imbalance has led to a runaway Court with no restraint – even knowledgeable liberals are concerned along with conservatives. Former MT ACLU Legislative Director and UM Law Professor Jeff Renz did a comprehensive nationwide study proving Montana’s Court was far and away the nation’s most activist Court – overturning its own prior case law at a rate more than twice that of the second most activist Court. His Montana Law Review study further proved there was no legitimate excuse for the Montana Court’s power grab, other than sheer lack of historical judicial restraint.

But it doesn’t take nationwide studies… just look at recent headlines. What other state Court in our lifetime has had its judicial head cut off twice in one month by the US Supreme Court? Montana’s Court, activist trial lawyer-dominated and lacking diverse discussion, is issuing politically-driven, dictatorial edicts with flaunting disregard for the rule of law and the Constitution. Follow the money – When special interest money (Trial Lawyers) dictates judge elections, it leads to a court that is special interest driven rather than based in consistent law. Under current statewide judge elections, average voters have little knowledge of either candidate’s track record. When votes are often an uneducated guess, slick ad campaigns funded by special interest money typically dictate statewide judge races.

How to fix it? LR119 seeks to bring justices closer to their Montana constituents in seven regional races spread across our big, diverse state. LR119 will result in more local judge candidates running in localized races. There will be more transparency in the local election process, and voters will have a greater understanding of the local candidates’ backgrounds, credentials, and views. Well-respected and experienced local judges would have a chance of winning, instead of the current statewide system where special interest money has bought a trial lawyer-dominated Court which presently doesn’t have a single former local District Judge on its entire roster.

Montana’s Constitution not only allows LR119, it invites the type of judge election reform which LR119 offers. The 1972 ConCon delegates voted down an amendment which would have mandated statewide at-large Supreme Court elections… the majority clearly opposed the idea. And voters amended Montana’s Constitution in 1992 precisely to allow instead that “Supreme Court justices shall be elected as provided by law”… which is exactly what LR119 does.

Yes, you’d only vote in one out of seven justice races. But your vote would be worth seven times as much…. Because it wouldn’t be diluted down in a vast, statewide400,000 -vote muddy sea of uninformed votes misguided by slick special interest ad campaigns.

LR119 seeks balanced and fair representation, and minimizes the influence of money in Supreme Court races to permit more diverse and qualified local candidates to seek Court election. LR119 brings needed geographic balance to the court, and voters will finally have a chance to know who they’re voting for in our Supreme Court elections.

If the Trial Lawyers aren’t successful in their present lawsuit to remove LR119 from the ballot and deny you your right to vote on LR119, I trust the voters to get it right when they vote in June…. For LR119.

Sen. Joe Balyeat (R-Belgrade) is a Great Falls native, GFHS National Merit Scholar, and the former Chairman of Montanans for Better Government. He was the prime sponsor of LR119 which passed the 2011 legislature.

With increasing frequency, government agencies are lobbying and politicking for causes that should be confined to public debate. The use of taxpayer dollars for what is probably illegal activities is overwhelmingly in support of a smorgasbord of left wing, eco-extremism and politically correct causes. Recently, the Montana University system once again flew it’s true colors; green and red. For a report, read the article below.

Your Tax Dollars At Work

The University of Montana hosted a workshop Feb. 17-19 in Missoula to provide a forum for a variety of misguided presentations about a number of natural resource issues, including climate change, coal and oil production, transportation and agriculture.

Even more troubling, the workshop trained participants on a number of “grassroots organizing” methods to obstruct responsible natural resource development.

The workshop agenda included sessions on “Biomass incineration, Biofuels, Biochar, Hydro, Geothermal and Other Bad Ideas;” “Beyond Coal Campaign;” and “The Tar Sands and their Tentacles: From Megaloads to the Keystone XL pipeline and everything in between.”

Workshop instructors included representatives of the Sierra Club, the Energy Justice Network, the Montana Environmental Information Center, the University of Montana Environmental Studies Program and many more.

While workshops attacking Montana’s natural resource economy are nothing new, the fact that this one was held on campus and included the presidents of both the University of Montana and Montana State University as well as Missoula Mayor John Engen as keynote speakers is new.

It’s also very disturbing that UM President Royce Engstrom, MSU President Waded Cruzado and UM Vice President of Student Affairs Theresa Branch were listed as “Platinum Sponsors” along with the Sierra Club.

Speaking of sponsorships, how ironic is it that a workshop aimed squarely against Montana’s natural resource industries would name its sponsorship levels after some the precious metals (platinum, gold and silver) that provide significant support to our economy?

Of course, Montana’s 12,000 oil and gas workers, 1,200 coal miners, 2,800 miners and thousands more working in timber and wood products, construction, farming and ranching, trucking, rail transportation, electricity generation and other natural resource industries have the right to be appalled that an agenda-driven event designed to undermine and attack the backbone of Montana’s economy was supported by public officials at public university facilities.

What kind of message does university support for this event send to the thousands of students at UM, MSU, Montana Tech and other Montana institutions of higher learning who are working towards degrees in engineering, chemistry, biology, forestry, business and other disciplines with the goal of someday landing a good-paying job with a natural resource company in Montana?

It was no coincidence that an article in Sunday’s Missoulian covered an “anti-coal” protest on the UM campus after the “Power Shift 2012” workshop.

Many of the workshop’s keynote speakers and participants organized and directed the protest. Readers of this newspaper should keep in mind this protest is part of an initiative organized by an Oregon and Washington group called CoalExportAction.

The Montana Chamber of Commerce recently conducted a scientific poll of Montana voters and discovered that over 73 percent of them want to see more hard rock and coal mining, oil and gas development and timber production.

I suspect these voters and the thousands of Montana natural resource workers would also like to see out-of-state groups like CoalExportAction go back to Oregon and Washington and the Montana’s University System get back to its job of preparing its students to enter the workforce — not the world of activism.

— Mark Lambrecht is Executive Director of the Western Environmental Trade Association in Helena.

U.S. District Judge Charles Lovell of Helena also upheld Montana’s ban on direct corporate contributions to campaigns, rejecting a request by several businesses and conservative lobbies to block it during the 2012 election. True-we didn’t expect to win on this one but since unions can forcibly extract dues from employees and then turn around and spend them on any number of groups that attack the hand that feeds them, we thought it worth a try.

The direct corporate contributions are different than corporate “independent expenditures,” which usually buy ads to attack or support a candidate or cause. The expenditures had been banned in Montana but now are allowed, because of a U.S. Supreme Court order last week. WOW-a victory for Freedom of Speech! Now, corporations-most of which are mom and pop in size, can express their views-just like the unions and taxpayer fed organizations that have figured out how to legislate access to the working stiff’s pocket book.

Lovell also indicated he would strike down two Montana “clean-campaign” laws, saying their attempt to regulate or restrict political criticism of a candidate appears to be unconstitutionally vague. Lovell granted a request to block the laws’ enforcement until he can issue a full ruling. A big win for groups like SGCCI (see sweetgrassroots.org) that had the audacity to take one of their elected officials to task over his voting record and were in turn threatened by this representative with reprisal from the Commissioner of Political Practices. We ask: If you can’t publicly take an elected official to task for their voting record, why bother to have representative government? Czars will be next………..uhhh…….never mind…….they are already here.

Lovell’s decision Friday was on the latest of three lawsuits filed by American Tradition Partnership and its allies in the past year and a half, attempting to overturn a series of Montana campaign finance laws and regulations. True-could it be because our constitutional rights are being trampled on? Ask yourself why the Montana Supreme Court has been overturned by the US Supreme Court THREE TIMES in the past several months. If it were baseball the Montana Supremes would be “out”.

ATP, formerly known as Western Tradition Partnership, is a Washington, D.C.-based conservative lobbying and political group that bills itself as “a no-compromise grassroots organization dedicated to fighting the radical environmentalist agenda.” TRUE and proud of it. Actually, ATP’s founder is based in Montana and ATP enjoys broad support for their efforts to defend grass-roots conservatives, promote responsible development of our vast state resources and challenge the CAVE people (Citizens Against Virtually Everything) aka radical environmentalists that use the courts to block nearly all economic development and raise the prices of EVERYTHING for the average working person. Enough is enough.

Montana Attorney General Steve Bullock said Friday the lawsuits are a “concerted effort by out-of-state corporations to dismantle our election laws and undermine the democratic process in Montana.” FALSE- AG Bullock is 0-3 after trying to defend Montana’s unconstitutional laws so he is smarting a little. Montana is fortunate to have a few brave citizens, most living in Montana stand up for ALL Montanan’s constitutional rights and peel back the illegal layers of restrictive laws that the entrenched politicians and unions have quietly blanketed us with. Roughly 1,800 bills are introduced every two years and you can rest assured most of them cost the taxpayers money and freedom!

He said he’s pleased that Lovell preserved Montana’s campaign contribution limits and prohibition on direct corporate contributions, and that he’ll continue to fight to preserve the clean-campaign laws. True-AG Bullock would hate to see average private sector, non-union working Montanan’s have any clout in the state. He want’s the Trial Lawyers Association to hold sway over us forever.

“I look forward to showing at trial how Montana’s laws governing truthful campaigning are needed and fulfill their purpose,” he said. “Montanans deserve accuracy — not distortions — from their candidates for public office.” Uhemm-Do you really believe you can legislate “truthful campaigning”? What Montanan’s really deserve is to be treated like adults and allow them to do their own homework and decide for themselves whether or not a candidate is telling the truth. Montanan’s and citizens around the country trusted the media to perform this critical task and see where that has led us-to the brink of disaster for sure. ”Freedom isn’t free” and citizenship in a republic requires our participation.

Jim Brown, a Helena attorney who represents ATP and other businesses and groups trying to overturn the laws, said Friday his clients are pleased with aspects of the ruling as well, such as the blocking of enforcement of the clean-campaign language. True-thank you Jim Brown and to the firm of Doney, Crowley, Payne and Bloomquist P.C. for your efforts on the behalf of freedom.

“We believe that Judge Lovell has vindicated free speech and association in Montana,” Brown said. “This (ruling) will allow people and corporations in Montana to speak (on campaigns) … without fear of prosecution in the 2012 election.” True-Let’s all get involved in our future and the future of our children before it’s too late.

Brown also said while Lovell upheld Montana’s monetary limits on campaign donations to candidates, the judge indicated his opinion could change if further evidence shows the limits restrict free speech or political association. True- and we are confident we will demonstrate these limits are restrictive.

The next step in the case will be written arguments or a trial before Lovell on whether the limits, clean-campaign law restrictions and ban on corporate contributions should be permanently retained or overturned. We relish the chance to take this fight to the court and to the public.

Lovell declined to block Montana’s contribution limits, which place a ceiling on how much an individual or political-action committee can give to a state candidate. The per-election ceiling is $630 for a gubernatorial candidate, $310 for other statewide offices and $160 for other public offices. True-but low by national standards. These limits don’t apply to George Soros and his web of evil in the state. Soros has donated a large amount of money to his Montana affiliates in the past several years (http://www.discoverthenetworks.org/groupProfile.asp?grpid=6706).

Montana also limits the total amount of PAC contributions to legislative candidates and limits what political parties can give to candidates. True

Lovell said past court decisions have said such limits are allowed if they allow candidates “to amass sufficient resources to wage an effective campaign.” True

However, Lovell said if ATP and its co-plaintiffs can “marshal evidence showing that the contribution limits, while formerly adequate, no longer allow candidates ‘to amass the resources necessary for effective campaign advocacy,’” he might change his mind. We intend to make a good case for higher limits.

On the clean-campaign language, Lovell blocked enforcement of state laws that require listing of certain votes on political material attacking one candidate, and that prohibit misrepresentation of a candidate’s voting record. A victory for SGCCI-citizens no longer need to fear threat of retribution from an elected official for talking about an elected official’s voting record.

He said the language is “unconstitutionally vague (and) overbroad,” making it impossible for anyone to be sure what might constitute a violation. True-thank you Judge Lovell and we look forward to defending the constitutional rights of ALL Montanans.

In round one of legal fight against Montana Attorney General Steve Bullock and his bullies at the Office of Political Practices, the people of Montana lost. The Montana Supreme Court upheld laws that are obviously in violation of recent federal Supreme Court decisions. But that was just the first round.

Today (Friday February 24), American Tradition Partnership (ATP) State Coordinator Doug Lair announced a “resounding” victory in Federal court on behalf of the group’s more than one thousand Montana members. “Montanans who value their 1st Amendment rights were vindicated again today against an attorney general and political elite in Helena who don’t want their voting records exposed to the light of day”, said Lair referring to ATP’s twin victories at the United States Supreme Court and in Federal court, exactly one week apart.

“You’re darn right Steve Bullock doesn’t want us talking about his vote against the jobs and wealth that Otter Creek coal will create,” Lair continued, “so of course he and his friends at political practices want to retain the right to go on investigatory fishing expeditions against their political enemies.”

U.S. District Judge Charles Lovell found unconstitutional the state’s vague statutes forcing anyone who wants to publish a politician’s vote on a certain issue to also publish every related vote by that politician, and a so-called false statement law. He declined to enjoin other claims that Montana’s campaign contribution limits are too low.

ATP is challenging over a dozen speech-related statutes as unconstitutional in three cases; nationally, so far the group has not lost such a case. The litigation has already resulted in announcements from the Office of the Commissioner of Political Practices to all registered political organizations, telling them how the laws have changed.

In a second announcement, Lair writes:

Greetings Freedom Lovers,

The Montana Supreme Court is 0-2 in the past week (see the Heritage Foundation link below). Last friday, February 17th, we at American Tradition Partnership along with several other plaintiffs prevailed with a US Supreme Court stay against the State of Montana Supreme Court in one of our three free speech cases. Incidentally, today ATP won a federal injunction against two more Montana anti-speech laws, with more to come.

In the other defeat for the Montana Supremes, Pacific Power and Light (PPL Montana) prevailed with a decision overturning Attorney General Steve Bullock’s fleeting victory before the Montana Supreme Court, which gave carte blanche for Montana’s unconstitutional attempted land and water taxation of riverbeds used by power plants (See Prospect link below). These two cases are huge victories for the citizens in Montana, and huge defeats for big government.

It’s no wonder Montana’s political and liberal press establishments want to silent free speech. The state tried to hold its citizens in check and abscond with another $50 Million in taxes and they would have if the Montana Supreme Court decisions been left to stand. And who ultimately would have gotten the bill, with no choice but to pay? You guessed it – not Pacific Power and Light, but the business owners, citizens and taxpayers of Montana.

With Montana’s state government record of prohibiting free speech which oppose their schemes to increase tax burdens to the state’s citizens, citizens need to look closely at the state Attorney General and make-up of our state’s high court next time the Attorney General and justices come up for election. The current office holders don’t seem to grasp the fundamental principles of the Constitution. Nor do they comprehend free enterprise. Because of the State Supreme Court’s hard-line anti-business tone, Montana is known worldwide as a tough place to grow a company and employ Montanans.

Perhaps a 0 for 2 record will help encourage a more robust public debate about whether Montana’s AG Steve Bullock and five of the seven members of the State Supreme Court truly represent the best interests of Montana constituents and employers in our great state.

On behalf of more than 1000 Montana American Tradition Partnership members, please take the time to read the Heritage and Prospect links below and consider joining American Tradition Partnership in the fight to restore our constitutional freedoms in Montana.

The history of this nation includes many events when religious organizations supported political causes. Some, like the prohibition movement, have been ill-advised and relegated to the trash heap of naive ideas. Others, like women’s suffrage, changed the United States and the world. Rarely has any American political group attacked churches for their moral positions, but there is no doubt that the Obama Administration has picked a fight with the Catholic Church and other religious groups who refuse to sell out to Caesar.

UPDATE: But Caesar has his ways. Today it was learned that the Secretary of the Army, an Obama appointee, instructed the Army to prohibit Chaplains from reading the letter from the Catholic Archbishop. Does that sound impossible? Apparently not. Soldiers don’t seem to have first amendment rights. Read more about this outrage by clicking here. You might remember that our current President didn’t know how to pronounce Corpsman. It’s no surprise he thinks soldiers live on a government planation.

Fear prevented many religious organizations from confronting the evils of fascism and communism. Many contemporary Moslem governments systematically oppress Christians, Jews, Bahi, Zorastrians and countless other groups who do not conform to the State approved religion.

But today, a great and powerful religion spoke up all over America. This Sunday at almost every Catholic service the priest read letters to their parishioners similar to the one below. The action was required by the U.S. Catholic church leadership. Imagine, every parish, every service across America received or will receive this message. It is an unprecedented public display of defiance of the Obama administration’s attack on Freedom of Religion and Speech. READ Bishop Warfel’s response to Obama’s HHS Mandate

There was no homily or sermon. This was what was said today at Mass at St. Joseph’s in Big Timber and all over these United States. It is a huge event and it happened all across America. The Catholic church actually took a political stand and made a call to action with the same message-get involved, write or call your congressional representatives and demand this violation of free speech and freedom of religion be rolled back! To read the Heritage Foundation’s interpretation of these events, click here.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.

This is an email I received from Cheryl Pass with the Gaston Tea Party. This is very good news. Hope we can get our Cleveland County Commissioners to do the same.

Hi all… Here is what I just put up on facebook…
Report from Gaston County Commissioners meeting tonight: Not sure what I was expecting…maybe balloons and champagne flutes for all, choirs and bands, the heavens full of shooting stars. Well, you all know me, I like visual impact and lots of celebrations for good events. Even so, our great commissioners passed, unanimously, the anti-Agenda 21 resolution for Gaston County as part of their consent agenda this evening. There were no dramatics. No arguments against it. The deed is done. The Gaston County Resolution against Agenda 21 is heading to the NC State House for recording.

The Chairman of the Commission told me afterwards that he has heard from several other county commissions in the state who are interested in looking into doing this same thing for their counties. So all in all, a very good, albeit quiet, passing of one very important statement. I want to remind my friends on this issue that this is just one step. The hard work of weeding Sustainable Development and Smart Growth, AKA Agenda 21 out of our lives is just beginning. Don’t give up! Cheers to all of you!

Comment from SGCCI: Perhaps Sweet Grass County can do the same- soon.
